Measurement of cracks:
Cracks of different lengths and widths were observed in all the girders of both the bridges during their visual inspection. Micrometer Crack Detector with least count equal to 0.02 mm was used to measure the crack widths. A light was also provided in the front to make the cracks visible. Moreover, the opening and closing of the cracks was also observed under normal traffic loads. The cracks were marked on the girders so that their propagation can be observed with time also. These cracks along with their dimensions were then mapped on the graph paper for future reference.
