Bubble Deck is as strong as a concrete slab but much lighter as it contains (sometimes recycled) plastic bubbles or spheres in a lattice of steel. This environmentally friendly process uses less concrete and materials as 1 kilogram of plastic replaces more than 100 kilograms of concrete.
With no formwork and minimal propping this flexible alternative allows for longer spans between columns and reduces energy consumption, carbon emission and overall construction costs.
Advantages
· Less expensive than other options - Less reo, less concrete and many other savings
· Faster construction time
- Quick installation by highly skilled crews
- Less weather dependent
- Typically 30% reduction in floor cycles
- Fast coverage - large panels (20 - 30m2)
· Reduced back-propping requirements
· Simplified and safer construction process
- Less trades on site
- Less exposure to OHS and industrial relations risks
- Less waste
- Less materials handling
- Safe working platform on site
· Superior structural outcome
- Reduction in building weight offers savings in vertical structure and in foundations
- Easy services co-ordination - flat soffit for services routing, or channel inside the slab
- Large project capability - over 50% of projects complete or in construction exceed 20,000m2 GFA · Quality product
- Off-site manufacture means high quality
- Minimal steel fixing 40 - 50% less steel on site, mainly straight loose bar
- Flexible - readily core through the slab anywhere, any time
- Long spanning, two-way, monolithic slab when completed
- Ready to pour - services and column openings, safety rail postholes, edge shuttering, light posts, etc.
- Precast concrete is safer - up to 75% fewer site exposure hours to install slabs; and a Quicker - up to 50% less concrete to pour
· A sustainable solution
- Significant sustainability advantages through de-materialisation (typically 30% less reo and 30% less concrete)
- Green star points available for dematerialisation, recycling and re-use; and innovation
· Durable
- High strength, factory produced, long life precast concrete offers the ultimate outcome with minimal maintenance
· Fire thermal and acoustic advantages
· No form-work
· No beams.
