To determine the Total Hardness of water sample using EDTA method

Water Hardness:
Hardness measures the concentration of multivalent cations (Ca2+, Mg2+,Sr2+,Al3+,ferric ions) particularly calcium and magnesium , present in water
Presence of dissolved ions, mainly of calcium Ca2+ and magnesium Mg2+ which are acquired through contact with rocks and sediments in the environment.
Hardness is defined as the sum of Calcium and Magnesium concentrations; both expressed as CaCO3 in mg/liter (mg CaCO3 /L)
Of these, ferric iron and aluminum ions tend to have little effect on hardness in natural waters since they are not very soluble in water at natural pH levels
