TO CARRY OUT SIEVE ANALYSIS OF COARSE AGGREGATE SAMPLE

1.      EQPT/MATERIAL

            Weighing balance, set of Coarse Sieves, sieve shaker, steel trays, brush for cleaning sieves, Sample of coarse aggregate.

2.      PROCEDURE

a.    The test is performed on a sample which has dried. If the sample is moist dry it attemperature not exceeding 110C^O.

b.    Nest the sieves in order and complete sieving operation by hand or by sieve-shaker.

c.    Continue sieving till no more material pass through any sieve.

d.   Determine weight of material retained on each sieve.

e.    Tabulate the observations/readings.

3.    PRECATIONS

a.    Sieving should be done properly.

b.    Weight should be done carefully.

c.    Quartering should be done before the test.
