TO TEST THE FINENESS OF CEMENT BY SIEVE ANALYSIS METHOD (DRY METHOD)

APPARATUS

Sieve number # 200

Portland cement

Bowl or plate or tray

Weight measuring machine or balance

PROCEDURE

Take a 100g of ordinary Portland cement (w1).sieve number # 200 is used  for dry method .cement is shaking for 15 min and collect powder  from shaking in bowl or plate .small particle passing through the  holes of sieve and large particles left behind on sieve.(w2)weighted .residue weight then we check the fineness =( W1-W2/W1)100

If > 90% then cement is fresh.

If < 90% then cement is not fresh.

                        Specimen Cement is not fresh. If cement is not fresh then we sent back the begs of cement toward the factory or store etc.
