Explanation of the additional terms appearing in the above equation:   
  1. The term  appears due to an inward radial acceleration arising from a change in the direction of Vθ ( velocity component in the azimuthaldirection ) with θ as shown in Fig. 7.1. This is known as centripetal acceleration.
