The Öresund Bridge - Drogden tunnel, Sweden - Denmark'

Satisfaction

A combined twin-track railway and dual carriageway bridge-tunnel across the Øresund strait. The bridge officially opened on July 1, 2000. In this view the entrance to the underwater Drogden Tunnel on the manmade island of Peberholm is in the foreground and the bridge and Sweden are seen in the background.

The bridge connects Sweden and Denmark, and it is the longest road and rail bridge in Europe. The Øresund Bridge also connects two major metropolitan areas: those of the Danish capital city of Copenhagen and the major Swedish city of Malmö. Furthermore, the Øresund Bridge connects the road network of Scandinavia with those of Central and Western Europe.

The high bridge part of the Øresund Bridge has the longest cable-stayed main span of all bridges in the world. That goes for both road and rail traffic. The tunnel part of Øresundsbron is the world's longest underwater tube tunnel, also for both road and rail traffic.
