Renmin Ribao building, Beijing, China
The less I talk about the phallic shape of the tower much better it would be.
Who was the smart guy that came up with this?
This building , which is under construction , belongs to the People's Daily, the organ ...ahem... of the Communist Party of China, erected ...(ohh the jokes I will see in the comments) ...in 2013. Most photos posted on Sina Weibo, the mainland's most popular microblogging site, were removed by censors, and attempts to search for " People's Daily building" in Chinese were met with a government message.
The architect claims the design was inspired by the Earth meeting the Sky in union.
Fingers crossed that the final phallic nature will be less obvious like the 30 St Mary Axe in London.
The Longaberger Company's Home Office, Newark, Ohio
Seriously?
I think the design was not done by the architect, but rather done by his 6 year old kid.
Epi Apartments, Seattle
What was the architect smoking?
Oh wait he was in Seattle. Now I get it.
Aoyama Technical College, Japan
One can only expect the japanese to come up with buildings that look like mecha robots.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland US
This building is an insult to the legends commemorated inside that building.
Antilia, Mumbai -India
The obligatory example from India.
Antilia is the residence of the richest man in India , Mukesh Ambani who spent around 1 billion $ to make this eyesore, making that building one of the costliest residences in the world.
Ratan Tata described Antilia as an example of rich Indians' lack of empathy for the poor.
The Ryugyong Hotel, Pyongyang, North Korea
This 103 storey hotel was planned to be completed in 90's but due to a fund crunch the construction was suspended. Since North Korea are known to show a clean and completed exteriors of all the buildings to foreigners, though the interiors are hopelessly bad and useless, the exterior of the hotel was soon completed to showcase the building to the world.
By the way the spire you see at the top , well it is actually a crane that was covered up.
An apartment building in China
Some guy owning a villa on top of the apartment building made a rock garden that not only made this avergae looking building hideous , but also made the building unsafe for residence by affecting the structural integrity
Elephant Building, Bangkok
I love elephants as much as the next guy but seriously ?
Selfridges Department Store, England
This looks more like a weirdly shaped wall with teo wall sockets .
Aldar headquarters building in Abu Dhabi
Any circular structures are big No-No in my books.
The Rock, Wellington International Airport, New Zealand
The first thing foreigners will see when they land in New Zealand is this monstrosity. So much for the first impression.
The Mirador Building in Madrid.
Just plain fugly!
Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia
This building looks like it was patched together using materials from other buildings.
The Tours Aillaud (also known as Tours Nuages) in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris, France
Circular window that isn't used on an airplane is strict No-No in my books.
The National Library in Pristina, Kosovo
I think the building is going through puberty as I see all those zits on that facade.
